The Paris New York Heritage Festival (PNYH) – Joburg Edition is back for the second time! This international festival experience brings concerts, collaborations, conversations and a market. With music, arts, culture, legacy, and people on the menu – it’s about Human(U)nity!

The main events will be taking place at Johannesburg’s Constitution Hill from 4th-5th March 2022
– the French Institute is truly excited to be part of this collaborative effort which will blend the young with the old in true heritage fashion.

With Kaya FM DJ, NickyB, collaborating with festival founder, Benjamin Levy, the PNYH guarantees a historical and contemporary journey to the heart of Africa and the African Diaspora’s art and music, stopping off in different cities around the world. Johannesburg can look forward to a great line-up of local and international artists who will be setting the stage ablaze for hours on end.

Festival-goers can look forward to the likes of artists who will honor the South African “musical revolution” with “Freedom Songs”, an event musically directed by Siyabonga Mthembu and Mthunzi Mvubu. All the artists involved in this surely historical performance are committed, each in their own way, to community building and connecting with people…so they’ve been chosen to create as a collective, to re-interpret freedom songs from the archives and/or create new ones.

Concerts: The Brother Moves On (SA) “Freedom Songs Project”, Msaki (SA), Raashan Ahmad (USA), Gontse Makhene (SA), Malcolm Jiyane (SA), Bholoja (SZ), students from the ‘Morris Isaacson Centre for Music and many others.
