The Kings & Queens of Comedy takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre this Friday.

Joining this incredible line up is singer, comedian and actress, Tracey-Lee Oliver who has given the musical comedy genre her own personal spin.

How did the idea to cross over to the musical comedy genre come about?

Tracey-Lee:

“It was actually an idea myself and Jason Goliath came up with.”

This is a very niche genre of comedy – how have you managed to create your own ‘stamp’ and set yourself apart from the rest?

Tracey-Lee:

“I think the fact that I have a theatre background and actually do sing allows me to be unique in this genre.”

Take us through a basic set?

Tracey-Lee:

“Ok – I’ll see you at the Kings and Queens show then? Lol”

If you had to pick one – singing or comedy, which would it be and why?

Tracey-Lee:

“That’s like asking if you had to pick between breathing and eating. LOL The two are apart of my personality and I can’t take one away from the other.”

Can anyone do comedy?

Tracey-Lee:

“NO! That’s a very strong NO!”

What is so special about the Kings & Queens of Comedy show?

Tracey-Lee:

“Kings and Queens was my first ever big time Comedy show where I was thrown into the deep end but I loved the challenge and will forever be grateful to Osman and Shaaista from BluBlood for giving me that opportunity.”

Who are you looking forward to seeing/ sharing the stage with?

Tracey-Lee:

“All of them!! Every one of these comedians are at the top of their game!”

How do you want to pave the way for more female comics in this country?

Tracey-Lee:

“Never ever restrict yourself because of what you think society is going to say. Especially if you are a woman. Funny is funny. And if you are, then by all means do it!”
