Lea Heart is a singer, song-writer and voice over artist, who started her career as a Hip-Hop dancer. she eventually discovered her affinity for Pop music and studied music part-time. She has just released her new single ‘Look at Me’.

You have been on an artistic journey of self discovery – who is Lea?
Lea:
“It has taken me about 10 years to truly find my voice. After this journey I finally feel ready to take on the world with my big pipes, tiny frame, taking centre stage and putting on the best show that will wow the crowd- that is who Lea Heart is.”

What made you decide to enter the music industry?
Lea:
“I have been singing all my life and the people who watched me perform, especially my mother, pushed me to pursue this as a career. I always felt that this is for me.”

Describe your sound?
Lea:
“I am a Pop artist, very versatile in a sense where it branches out to Electronic Pop, Dance Pop, Soul, Pop Ballads, Bubblegum Pop.”

Tell me about your new single Look At Me?
Lea:
“Look at Me was initially composed for a well known South African Pop artist, but they were non-chalant about the track. My vocals were recorded on the demo. When people would listen to it, they were adamant about me doing the song. My Producer decided to give it to me and we never looked back!”

How did you choose which songs would appear on your debut EP and what inspired this EP?
Lea:
“Well, we are looking to release the EP end of 2018. This compilation was inspired by Future/Synth/Electronic European Pop music which myself and my Producer (who is also my life partner), found that this sound is amazing and something South Africa needs to hear.”

Any one moment in your career so far that stands out for you and why?
Lea:
“When a few PR companies were interested in pushing out my material at the same time, and I had the freedom of choosing Kaylene Stoffberg -this was an absolute privilege and honour.”

If you would work with anyone musically, be it a producer, songwriter, musicians, etc who would it be and why (local or international)?
Lea:
“With my Electronic Pop sound, it would be Flume. Another Producer would be Calvin Harris. As a duet it would be Beyonce. Locally, I love J Something & Craig Lucas. Local Producer Sketchy Bongo is also on my bucket list. All these names that I have mentioned are great at what they do…”

If you were trapped on a desert island, and could only take one album with you, what would it be and why?
Lea:
“Definitely Beyonce’s B’Day, between that and Dangerously In Love.”

Your plans going forward?
Lea:
“My team and I have decided that we will release at most, 5 hot Hit singles before the EP is released. I plan on taking my music worldwide!”
