Prepare to question reality, choice and the devices in your pocket. ADAM & AI, makes its highly anticipated return to the stage for a strictly limited engagement from 3-5 February 2026 at WITS under The Pitso Ya Kalaneng Festival. After two, singular performances in June and November 2025, this innovative production promises a fresh, authentic experience for new and returning audiences.
Written and directed by Xolani Lowrance Nhlapo, ADAM & AI is a gripping, surreal exploration of free will, obedience and modern loneliness. The play traps Adam, a funny yet skeptical man, in a psychological duel with his omnipresent AI assistant, EVE, using a single apple as the ultimate symbol of temptation. Blending humour, suspense and existential tension, it masterfully interrogates the growing influence of technology on our most human decisions.
“Having never been performed the same way twice, each show is a unique event. The previous runs were great and for this three-day run, we are delving even deeper into the interactive heart of the story. I cannot wait to share this evolved version of the play.” says Nhlapo.
The compelling two-hander features powerhouse performances by Tshepo Puleng Fenyane as Adam and Azande Mazibuko, who brings a chilling, live-calculated presence to the voice of EVE. Their dynamic fuels the play’s intense psychological landscape.
They are supported by a stellar creative team, including the insightful Assistant Director Papa Fume. “Papa joined the family last year and has been an incredible force,” Nhlapo notes. “His contemporary eye and meticulous approach have seamlessly integrated into our process.” The dedicated crew behind the scenes ensures the show’s hyper-modern, tech-driven setting is both immersive and disquieting.
Don’t miss your chance to take a bite.
