South African producer, director and writer, Ferdinand W Gernandt, in association with Oakfields College, is thrilled to announce Acres of Diamonds South Africa launching in January 2023; a 20-part Acting and Entertainment Masterclass series that will kick-start on 7th January and continue on Saturdays until 24 June 2023.

Ferdinand and his team have assembled some of THE finest actors and creatives from the South African entertainment industry, all experts in their respective fields, to further develop, nurture and train young performers who are truly passionate about their craft.

It’s Acres of Diamonds’ initiative to create a sound platform for emerging actors in South Africa, providing a safe environment to uplift, transform and integrate into our culture, while showcasing their talent to the industry and larger community.

Says Gernandt; “I wanted to plan something for early in the new year specifically aimed at giving our young actors access to industry professionals. My goal is to elevate and uplift our upcoming talent by bridging the gap between studios and the industry. For them to ‘learn from the best’ as it were – all still active in the industry thus being able to provide invaluable practical and hands-on knowledge. We want to share their gifts and stories with the world.”

The courses offer a diverse range of topics and specialised skills from Creative Movement to Social Media for Actors to On Screen Acting to TV presenting and many more, focusing on one each week in the 4-hour session.

Students attending can choose from whether they just want to hone one specific skill, to attending multiple classes or all of them. Classes are restricted to just 30 attendees, thus ensuring excellent individual time is given to each student attending, giving them invaluable training.

These masterclasses are presented by Award-Winning, celebrated industry pros including: Keneilwe Matidze, Carlo McFarlane, Zak Hendrikz, Ilse Klink, Marlee van der Merwe, Prev Reddy, Ayanda Makayi, Craig Urbani, Fiona Ramsay, Nicholas Nkuna, Neels Clasen and others.

Added to the mix is for students to have the unique opportunity to interact with international actor, model, author and photographer Stevel Marc who will be imparting his priceless global knowledge and experience in his topic; Longevity: Navigating Life and the Industry in March.

Says Stevel Marc, “When I was told of the concept, I jumped at the opportunity to be involved and to be able to give back to the South African entertainment community that has given me so much since I made SA my home (from Jamaica) 21 years ago. What an honour to help shape young passionate actors and highlight to them, some of the highs and pitfalls of the industry that I’ve experienced along the way, and to showcase practical ways of navigating the industry.”
