In the marketplace of worries
she bargains for hope.
In rooms heavy with doubt
she opens a window.
She carries stories in the lines of her palms,
lessons in the rhythm of her walk,
futures tucked carefully
into the folds of her prayers.

She is the keeper of small mercies—
a pot that stretches to feed one more child,
a chair pulled closer to listen,
a hand pressed firm on a trembling shoulder.
Her voice is not always loud,
but it is steady—
and steadiness can hold up a sky.

We honour the women in our lives who have changed the way we see ourselves in this world.

Whale Shark or: How To Disembowel the Ocean tells the story of Clark & Bohlale, two estranged former lovers trapped at the bottom of the ocean, inside the mouth of Meno, a 50 Foot Whale of an undiscovered species…As the two find ways to escape their living prison, they are forced to reconcile with each other, and confront a past they both can’t untangle themselves from, whether on shore or land.Originally written in 2020 as part of the Tsammu Playwrighting Programme, this modern dystopian romance was first read as a radio play by Khanyisile Zwane, Sydney Ndlovu & directed Lereko Rex Mfono. Whale Shark or: How To Disembowel the Ocean takes us through the trials of love, our decaying oceans, and the hope for redemption that may save us, and hopefully, each other.SCRIPT TEASE offers productions (or writers) and audiences the opportunity to be in dialogue before work is put on the floor. Additionally, it offers audiences a window into various processes, as well as the chance to experience work that is otherwise difficult to mount. Readings are followed by a dialogue with the audience.

A Coming-Of-Middle-Age Comedy-Drama
Two Unlikely Companions. Trapped in a Basement. Catastrophe or Epiphany?
A coming-of-middle-age comedy-drama, Spanish Steps traps Barry and Maureen in close quarters with nowhere to hide from each other — or themselves. As tempers flare and buttons are pushed, they become mirrors to one another’s blind spots in a sharp satire about the roles we play in society. Funny, uncomfortable, and unexpectedly moving, this award-winning play balances biting humour with genuine heart. Between the laughter you may find you shed a tear in hope of a real human connection.
